The Back 2 School Bash
Well, I know this isn't the best time to be thinking about a Back 2 School Bash since there are three days left before everyone is out of school, but we need to plan ahead if we want this event to be successful! I was talking with Karolyn last night about it and I have a question that I want to ask all of you. Obviously, the goal of this even is outreach and to kick off the school year. We want the highest possible number of teens to show up so we can promote our Bible Studies and Wednesday Night time. I have three things that we can spend the biggest junk of our budget on and I am not sure which would be the best. I have sent an email to the teens asking their opinions, but now I seek yours. Here are the three options
1. Speaker (like someone from surivor or a college football player)
2. A Band (we only have $1500 so it wouldn't be a super well known band)
3. Blow up toys (Joust, Huge slide, Fly Wall etc.)
4. Something else I haven't thought of.
Obviously, there will be more going on that night besides just this like a Madden Tournament, music, food, bonfire and other stuff. Now keep in mind we can pray for a nice night, but the weather may not cooperate for the outdors! That could play a big factor in this. I am open to suggestions and input. Thanks for everything you guys do.

College player? Ooh, Vince Young. Without a doubt. There's no doubt in my mind. He would be the guy.
If not Vince...geeze...I don't even know.
Would the blow up toys be inside? Like in the High School Gym? I know we did that one time...or were you thinking more for the outside?
We should definitely have something for them to do when they are not listening to the speaker, or eating food.
The speaker adds a nice touch. I would vote for an inexpensive DJ, as opposed to a band. I wonder if the teens would agree? Perhaps you could even get on of the teens to conduct some of the DJ'ing themselves - someone with talent in that area of course.
Will you be doing this before school starts? Or just right after it starts? If the event were to happen during the first week, it might open up for some easy school-lunch time promoting! You can reach a lot of kids that way.
I think we should combine the two... a low-end speaker AND some blow up toys! I do think the teens will come and have a blast with those. Even though a speaker would be awesome, for most of us adults who are mature enough to appreciate it, I think the blow up toys will draw in the crowd more than a speaker. Just my opinion though:)
